APEC 2015 Industry Presentation, Virtual Prototyping Using Discrete Time Simulation

Charlotte, NC, March 15 – 19, 2015 APEC Applied Power Electronics Conference

Don Davidson is to present the industry session IS15-6 ‘Virtual Prototyping Using Discrete Time Simulation’.

This presentation will introduce the concept of ‘Virtual Prototyping’ which is building a complete circuit prototype in a simulation program. It will show that the prototype can be designed, built and operated in a similar manner to a real prototype would be in the lab and that nearly all types of tests can be conducted on the Virtual Prototype.

The presentation will explain why an advanced discrete time simulation program is the best platform for most design engineers to do ‘Virtual Prototyping’. A design process will be described that has been successfully applied by the presenter to produce complete multi-stage power converter unit designs that work in real life almost exactly as predicted by the ‘Virtual Prototypes’. This process has been found to reduce design cost, timeframe and design uncertainty.
